When something goes wrong

Questions

How much can I reduce a photo without it looking worse? expand_more

For most photographs, quality between 75% and 85% produces a file that is dramatically smaller and visually indistinguishable at normal viewing size. Below 60% you will start to see blocky artefacts.

Should I use WebP or JPG? expand_more

WebP typically produces a file 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPG at the same visual quality, and every current browser supports it. Choose JPG only if the image must open in very old software.

Will compressing remove my photo's location data? expand_more

Compression re-encodes the image, which discards most embedded metadata including location information. If removing metadata is your main goal, the Metadata Stripper tool does this explicitly.

Is there a file size limit? expand_more

No fixed limit is imposed by the tool. The practical ceiling is how much memory your device has free, because the whole job runs inside this browser tab.
