When something goes wrong

HEIC is a container Apple adopted for iPhone photos to save space. Support outside Apple software is patchy, so Windows, Android and many web upload forms reject it. PNG is universally readable.
Is PNG better than JPG for HEIC photos? expand_more
PNG is lossless, so nothing is discarded and edits do not degrade the image further. The trade-off is size: a PNG of a phone photo is typically several times larger than the equivalent JPG. Choose JPG if you need small files, PNG if you need fidelity.
Does converting to PNG improve the photo quality? expand_more
No — it preserves it. HEIC is already compressed, and PNG keeps whatever detail the HEIC file holds without removing more. It cannot restore detail that was never captured.
Do the photo details such as date and location come across? expand_more
Image data is carried across, but embedded capture metadata is not copied into the new file. If you need to remove location data before sharing, use the metadata remover instead.
