Free online audio tools

Convert, trim, compress, join and extract audio without uploading it. Every tool runs on your own device.

Audio is the least fussy of the file types — the files are small, the formats are well behaved, and almost everything plays MP3. That makes the jobs quick: change the format, cut out the bit you want, make the file smaller, or lift the sound out of a video.

All five tools here work in the browser, so nothing is uploaded and there is no queue to wait in. They are free, there is no watermark, and there is no cap on how many files you run through them.

Questions

Do I have to upload my audio?

No. The file is read from your device, processed in the browser, and handed back. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is kept.

Which format should I use?

MP3 is the safe universal choice and is supported everywhere. WAV is uncompressed and large. M4A and AAC are more efficient than MP3 at the same quality. FLAC is lossless and best for archiving.

Does converting to MP3 reduce quality?

Yes, somewhat — MP3 is a compressed format. At 192 kbps or above most people cannot hear the difference from the original on ordinary speakers.

Is there a file size or length limit?

No fixed limit. Very long recordings are bounded by your device's memory rather than by anything we set.

Are these audio tools free?

Yes. Free to use, no watermark, no daily limit.
