Convert MP3 audio tracks to uncompressed WAV
Many audio editors, digital audio workstations and game engines work faster with uncompressed WAV streams. Turn your MP3 files into standard WAV format with zero fuss.
- Format
- Uncompressed WAV
- Compatibility
- Every DAW & editor
- Leaves your device
- Never
Which output should you pick?
Choose WAV when
- You are importing audio into a DAW or video editor like Premiere.
- A legacy sound device or hardware sampler only plays WAV files.
- You want zero extra compression artifacts during production editing.
Stay with MP3 when
- You are listening on a phone or sending tracks over email.
- Storage space is limited and small file size is your priority.
- You do not plan on doing multi-track mixing or sound editing.
How it works
Select your MP3 file
The audio loads directly into local memory.
Keep or change sample rate
Preserve the original 44.1 kHz or resample to 48 kHz for video projects.
Convert
The compressed MP3 is decoded into an uncompressed PCM WAV stream.
The track is opened, not sent
Editing audio normally means uploading the file and hoping the service is trustworthy. Here your browser opens the track from your disk, works on it in place, and saves the result back. The audio never crosses the network.
- Opened from your disk by your browser — not sent anywhere first.
- Held in the tab while the tool works, then dropped.
- Saved to your device by your browser, not by a link to a server.
- Closing the tab clears the working copy completely.
- No account, so nothing is ever attached to an identity.
- No tracking of what you worked on or what was inside the file.
There is no queue, no render farm and no waiting room. The track is worked on in front of you and released the moment the tab closes. The how it works page covers what actually happens inside the tab, and our DevTools guide shows how to confirm 0 bytes are uploaded.
What people use it for
Making a track play everywhere
Some players only accept one container. Converting once removes the guesswork.
Sending a voice note that is too long
A ten-minute recording is a lot to ask someone to play. Trim it to the useful minute and it actually gets heard.
Fitting an episode inside a feed limit
Podcast hosts set a maximum size. Checking the result here saves a failed upload later.
Keeping a copy that will still open in ten years
A widely supported format is a safer long-term bet than a container only one app understands.

When something goes wrong
Corrupt files, and formats outside the list above, stop with a plain message rather than a spinner that never finishes. If a track plays in your music app it will normally open here.
The audio container is not one the browser can read. Convert it to MP3 or WAV first, then run it through again.
Why not an upload site
An upload-based audio editor sends your recording to a server and sends the result back. Removing that round trip removes the waiting, the caps and the copy of your file.

Questions
Does converting MP3 to WAV restore lost quality?
No. MP3 is lossy, so detail discarded when the MP3 was originally created cannot be recovered. However, WAV prevents any further compression loss.
Why would I convert MP3 to WAV?
Video editing suites and digital audio workstations process uncompressed WAV audio with lower latency and fewer playback glitches than compressed MP3.
Is my music file uploaded to a server?
No. All audio decoding and writing happens right inside this browser tab on your computer.
Is there a file size limit?
No fixed limit is imposed by the tool. The practical ceiling is how much memory your device has free, because the whole job runs inside this browser tab.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Yes, once the page has loaded. Nothing is fetched while you work, so a dropped connection does not interrupt a run.
Do I need an account or an email address?
No. There is nothing to sign up for, and nothing is ever attached to an identity because no file leaves your device.
