Are these video tools really free?
Yes. Every tool on this page is free to use, with no watermark added to your output and no cap on how many files you run through them.
Do I have to upload my video?
No. The video is read from your device, processed in the browser, and the result is written back to your downloads. It is never sent to a server.
Is there a file size limit?
The practical limit is your own device's memory rather than anything we impose. A large phone will comfortably handle a multi-gigabyte file; an older laptop may struggle with a very long high-resolution recording.
Does compressing a video ruin the quality?
Compressing reduces the bitrate, so there is always some loss — the question is whether you can see it. Start light, check the result, and run it again at a stronger setting if you need it smaller — nothing is wasted, because the original file is never touched.
How long does it take?
It depends on the length of the clip and the power of your device. A fast cut, which copies the original video data rather than re-encoding it, finishes almost immediately. Re-encoding a long clip takes minutes, and it is your own processor doing the work rather than a shared queue.
Which format should I convert to?
MP4 with H.264 is the safest choice — it plays almost everywhere. WebM is smaller and better suited to the web. MOV is the native format for Apple's tools.
